| In Broaching, the tool has a major influence on the surface finished achieved, the tolerances, the life of the tool and in short, on the economy of the entire process. The design of broaching tool will depend on the material, the shape and the quantities of the component that are to be broached. |

Keyway broaches can also be designed to provide specific chamfer at the corner of the base thus avoiding filing.
Surface broaches are available for broaching flat surfaces, irregular surfaces, external forms, concave or convex surface, serrations, cam shaped, corner squaring and dovetails. These are used to machine the exterior part of the component.
Combination Broaches are used for finishing sizes when the regular broach is gone under size and still the sharpening life is available. This type of broaches are used where two or more matching operations are required |
